Listing photos that actually sell

Eight shots, in this order, will out-perform a 30-photo gallery every single time. Here's the playbook our top dealers use.

Most listings die in the first photo. Buyers swipe through Marketplace at speed, and if your hero shot doesn’t earn a second look, the other 29 photos never get seen.

After analyzing thousands of listings across our pilot dealers, the pattern is clear: eight well-composed photos out-convert a 30-photo gallery, every time. Here’s the order.

The eight-shot playbook

  1. Hero ¾ exterior, driver’s side. Wheels turned out, golden hour if you can get it. This is the photo that earns the click.
  2. Front straight-on. Grille, badge, headlights. Buyers use this to confirm trim level.
  3. Rear ¾. Mirrors the hero on the opposite corner. Shows the car has a back end (you’d be surprised).
  4. Interior front, driver’s seat. Steering wheel, dash, infotainment lit up.
  5. Interior rear seat. Folded down if it’s a utility play, upright if it’s a family car.
  6. Trunk / cargo. Open. Lit. Empty.
  7. Odometer + VIN sticker. Builds trust before they even message you.
  8. A “vibe” shot. The badge, the wheel, the stitching on the seat. Something that makes the car feel like a thing they’d own.

Why fewer is better

Every additional photo dilutes attention. Once a buyer sees a 25-photo gallery, they assume there’s a reason you’re trying so hard — usually that something is wrong. Eight feels confident.

The dealers who switched to the 8-shot rule saw a 34% lift in lead rate within six weeks.
